"Landscapes" Time Lapse Videos

These are stellar. The first one is actually the second of the series and focuses on the American Southwest. It's quite beautiful, and the addition of John Murphy's track "Sunshine (Adagio in D Minor)" makes it even better. That track always makes me misty-eyed when it comes up on my mp3 player. The last one is the first of the series and is mostly of Arizona and Utah.

A new year.

As you can see, I haven't posted on this blog since December 13th. The following day, tragedy struck my hometown. Now everyone knows its name. I was going to try to write out my feelings about the Sandy Hook Elementary tragedy but every time I sat down to do so, I ended up in a mental firestorm. So I have waited until I can better articulate my thoughts and feelings. December was not a great month for me physically from the very beginning. I keep coming down with these flu-like viruses and upper respiratory infections. It's never easy staying healthy in the winter for me, but it pretty much wiped out my month. Unfortunately, this means the two classes I was taking ended up giving me Incompletes. That means I have a total of 5 Incompletes, with varying levels of work involved. I'm hoping that my professors will be around before the start of the next semester so I can just get all of it done. In the meantime, I peruse the internet for any possible job openings I could apply to. I really want to go into graduate school (for a number of reasons) but my father thinks I should just go straight into the workforce. I would need a job even if I do go to graduate school, so I think I may end up applying anyway and seeing what happens. My workload looks like this:

  • MAT 103
    • Exam #2
    • Final Exam
  • SPA 210
    • Final Exam
  • PSY 259
    • Z test for single means homework assignment
    • Single sample T tests homework assignment
    • Correlated groups T test homework assignment
    • Exam #3
    • ANOVA homework assignment
    • Chi Square test homework assignment
    • Final Exam
  • BIO 105
    • Exam #3 (Units 7-9)
    • Exam #4 (Units 10-13)
    • Final Exam (Units 1-13)
  • PSY 393
    • Exam #2
    • Exam #3
    • Research Paper
Is it a lot? Yeah, it's more than I'd like. As it stands, the last two (BIO and PSY 393) were the 2 from this semester, so I think I can knock those off fairly quickly since I'm studied up on those subjects. Spanish has always been fairly easy for me, and that's one test so I'm not too worried about that.  Statistics (the 259 course) may take a little while longer since I have to learn new material and not rehash old stuff (everything else).

I also told myself I would make a more concerted effort to improve my fitness level. This is the year where I want to be able to finish a 5k marathon, and move on to events like the Tough Mudder. Going to take some "before" pictures this week. I'm not sure how much time I will be able to exercise really with the symptoms from my transplant coronary artery disease. One of the lesions is in a branching artery, but the other is pressed right up against the aorta. So if that one worsens, that would affect all the blood flow to my heart.

Signing off for now.

"The Wolverine" Moving Poster

I sincerely hope you can wash away the taste of "Origins"...

"Pacific Rim" Trailer

A giant robots versus monsters movie done by Guillermo Del Toro with GLADOS voicework? Sold.

"Star Trek: Into Darkness" Trailer

Can't. Wait.

"Man of Steel" Trailer 2

I got actual goosebumps around 1:12. Next summer is going to be amazing between this and "Pacific Rim".

Tomorrow is going to be rough.

I have a biology practical exam in the morning. I missed the fetal pig dissection lab, so I won't know that part. I'm having a hard time studying all of this genetics stuff (which is a large part of it). Then on Friday, I have to make up a biology exam from before Thanksgiving break.

This is going to hurt.
