So, who are these "Guardians of the Galaxy" people?

The new movie comes out on August 1, 2014 (my birthday, whee!). I went and read the 25 issue run of Guardians to familiarize myself with the characters and setting. It was decent, and it set up for the "Thanos Imperative" which I have yet to read. So far the only cast member that we know for sure is Chris Pratt as Star-Lord. I can definitely see Jason Momoa as Drax. Here's a video IGN threw together as an introduction to these space Avengers.

What a weekend. Thanks Nemo!

We weren't able to leave Kyle's out until yesterday afternoon. We took a quick jaunt to Stop & Shop to grab a few items, and more importantly release some cabin fever. As it was, the town plows didn't arrive for their road until 10:30pm last night.

I was able to get home today around 1pm. Thankfully it was just raining and the roads weren't too terrible. Had some cereal and promptly got my ass to the gym. This was not a good weekend between the inactivity and the goodies. Kyle's mom had cookies made Friday, Kelsey (his sister) made cupcakes on Saturday and on Sunday Kyle requested more cookies. I have a hard time turning down fresh baked goods (since I so rarely have them). Needless to say, my body sucked that right up. I'll have to be ultra good this week, and basically the rest of my life, ha. It's important to me because I want to look good come spring and summertime, but I'm not sure how long I will really be able to work out because of my TCAD. As it is, Dr. Latif wants me to take a stress test in April. So anyways, yes. Gym was good.

I did two circuits of:

  • 10x squat-to-overhead press @10lbs
  • 10x side lunges (each leg)
  • 10x tricep pulldown @ 30lbs
  • 10x low row @ 30lbs
  • 10x chest press @ 30lbs
  • 10x lat pulldown @ 45lbs
  • 10-15x Swiss ball jackknife
  • 10x donkey kicks (per side)
  • 10-15x straight leg raise
  • 10-15x leg press @ 120lbs
  • 10x hamstring curls @ 45lbs
I was able to eek out another set of squats, lunges and tricep pulldowns but decided I'd had enough and thought it better to quit before totally exhausting myself. I'll go back tomorrow to do 20-30 minutes of cardio and probably a few ab exercises.

I also applied for an administrative assistant position here in Newtown, which would be super fabulous because it's part time, close to home, and would give me some good experience.

Looking forward to Thursday because I get to go to Heartbeat Cabaret in NYC with fellow transplantees.

What D&D Character Am I?

I Am A: Lawful Neutral Human Wizard (4th Level)

Ability Scores:
Strength-12
Dexterity-12
Constitution-10
Intelligence-14
Wisdom-14
Charisma-13

Alignment:
Lawful Neutral A lawful neutral character acts as law, tradition, or a personal code directs him. Order and organization are paramount to him. He may believe in personal order and live by a code or standard, or he may believe in order for all and favor a strong, organized government. Lawful neutral is the best alignment you can be because it means you are reliable and honorable without being a zealot. However, lawful neutral can be a dangerous alignment when it seeks to eliminate all freedom, choice, and diversity in society.

Race:
Humans are the most adaptable of the common races. Short generations and a penchant for migration and conquest have made them physically diverse as well. Humans are often unorthodox in their dress, sporting unusual hairstyles, fanciful clothes, tattoos, and the like.

Class:
Wizards are arcane spellcasters who depend on intensive study to create their magic. To wizards, magic is not a talent but a difficult, rewarding art. When they are prepared for battle, wizards can use their spells to devastating effect. When caught by surprise, they are vulnerable. The wizard's strength is her spells, everything else is secondary. She learns new spells as she experiments and grows in experience, and she can also learn them from other wizards. In addition, over time a wizard learns to manipulate her spells so they go farther, work better, or are improved in some other way. A wizard can call a familiar- a small, magical, animal companion that serves her. With a high Intelligence, wizards are capable of casting very high levels of spells.

Two Amazing Prison Breaks in Sci Fi/Fantasy Movies

Inspired by the article at io9. "Star Trek: The Undiscovered Country" is a great one, but couldn't find any videos encompassing the whole thing. If you've seen it, you'll know what I'm referring to though.
